The best PSL recipe infused with CBD!
Savor the warm spices of these seasonal coffee shop favorites with a twist!
Hi, I’m Chris Martin, CEO of Hempful Farms and head chef since 1998. Today I’m going to go over a favorite recipe in our household that you can make any time of the year and save a few bucks!
First off, before we can talk about pumpkin spice lattes, we need to discuss the pumpkin puree.
Most people will purchase a can of pumpkin puree, but the problem with this is if you’re anything like our household you’re going to need to keep the pumpkin puree on hand and these large cans are way too much and cause waste.
You can put the extra puree into jars and use it again later, but I prefer to make our own puree and it’s actually fairly easy to do from scratch.
To make your own pumpkin puree, you will need to purchase two of the medium size sugar pumpkins, or pumpkin pie pumpkins (pictured below).
From there you will cut the pumpkins in half, lay them on a baking sheet so the pumpkin skin is facing up, and cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 60mins.
The skin should look slightly charred. Let the pumpkins cool and then the skin should be easy to remove. You will then transfer the raw pumpkin into a blender and store it in mason jars or smaller freezer bags for storage.
Make sure to partition off them so you can pull them out of the freezer as needed. Note, if you put them in mason jars you will need to go through a separate canning process for storage.
Do not put mason jars in the freezer. We prefer the canning method as we are too impatient to wait for the puree to unthaw.
In the end, your pumpkin puree should look something like this:
Now that we have our pumpkin puree, we will need spices. The spices are what make the magic of this recipe come together. You can purchase a pumpkin spice seasoning blend, but you probably already have most of the ingredients for pumpkin pie seasoning in your pantry.
To make your own pumpkin spice mix you will need powdered cinnamon, powdered ginger, powdered allspice, powdered nutmeg, and ground cloves (optional). You can use the graphic below as a reference.
Now it’s time for the drink.
A proper PSL is made with espresso, however, you can make it with simple coffee or tea, it’s really up to you and your preference.
The key here is the steamed milk. If your coffee maker doesn’t have a milk steamer on it, here’s a simple way to do it. Add milk, sugar, and our pumpkin spice mix into a microwave-safe cup. Cover with plastic and vent with small holes.
Microwave for 1 to 2 mins. Take out of the microwave and while it’s hot whisk vigorously until it becomes frothy.
You will then add your coffee, espresso, or tea to the milk mixture.
Now add 1-2ml depending on how strong you want your CBD of the new Pumpkin Spice CBD oil.
The great thing about this CBD oil is that it is infused with the pumpkin spice flavor therefore the CBD addition only enhances the taste and the CBD helps calm your nerves and relieves pain.
This is a great treat to have in the morning because the CBD will stay with you all day. To finish, I like to add some whipped cream and top with more of our pumpkin spice mix. And enjoy!
